JEWISH ART by Reuven Robinson
I have expressed my "Jewishness" through Visual Art. Being Jewish is central to my core. I have a "neshomah", a soul. As I paint murals, make prints or simply create sketches, that neshomah cries for expression.
I am influenced by my grandparents' generation, those who braved the ocean and fled Europe. It is my grandpa's stories of the shtetl that continue to haunt me and whenever I make "Jewish" art, I illustrate those clad in almost shtetl garb, just the way my own congregational rabbi dresses.
I want the young generation to recognize that this is their heritage as well, which is another reason I continue to make paintings and drawings like those below. Note: JEWISH STUDENT ART FOLLOWS THE PICTURES BELOW.
